This is an amazing bird, Lisa, and a stunning photo! I've never seen a bird like this before! I also love your new header photo - it reminds me that I've wanted to change mine for ages... ;-)
So glad that mystery is solved, I think when we went to the zoo last summer that we saw (and I photographed)one of those Turacos .. those colors are pretty amazing.
What a gorgeous bird and what wonderful processing on your part. It may be officially a Turaco as was mentioned above, but I'd call it the Mohawk with that hairstyle.
I thought this bird looked familiar. I looked it up and found out that it is closely related to the Grey Go-Away bird I saw in Africa: http://www.flickr.com/photos/godutchbaby/3859923351/
Hi Lisa, The beauty of nature never cease to amaze! And you are there to capture it!! As always beautiful! Not writing things down and then forgetting sounds familiar! All the best, xoxo Ingrid
Lisa, this is a stunning photo, and such a beautiful bird!! It takes my breath away. The colors are wonderfully delicate. He/she is dressed like a Prince/Princess! Spectacular photography! Beverly
I love the bird. We were out walking the other day and we saw a lone bird, huge...we weren't sure what it was until two men rode by and said "wow look at that heron"
Wow. sooo beautiful! We saw a different kind of turaco in south africa. They are really wonderful art work! Many greetings and have a nice rest of the week! Yvonne & Raphael
Hard enough to get a brilliant photo like this, let alone remember to get the name of the bird. Identifying birds is hard. Not seen a Turaco before. What a beauty, and you gave it all the right things with light and the colors. Sweet.
What an amazing rid! The colours and even the shape of the head and beak are unusual. Love the little red "eye-lashes" surrounding the eye too. Great photo Lisa, the lighting is wonderful and all so crisp.
