Your post really resonated with me, Lisa, as I'm experiencing so many changes in my life right now. Your lovely photos illustrate your words so beautifully!

hannah said...

So well said and illustrated.
Still, as you point out, there's a certain beauty in decline and emptiness. And we are learning to set your sights lower as the year moves on.
Thank you for hosting this beautiful get-together.

Woof Lisa!
That looks like Heaven without Keeper and that surely scares me!

Sweepy said...

Yes, Sweepy is right, Lisa!
Love fills the empty spaces but like you I can still feel the wonderful memories behind the emptiness. I guess that is the most important thing. To be alone and not feel lonely.

Have a quiet love-filled week!

Lui said...

OOops, I used Sweepy's email address.
Sorry!

Enjoy your solitude as well as the frenzy ones.

What a lovely post and I echo all that you say. You put it into words so well. Lovely pictures, particularly the first one of the park bench I love it in black and white :)

I just love that simple swing..and all that evokes and suggests. Yes - summer has definitely come to a grinding halt...but fall is so beautiful!

yes, there is a time for everything and with the emptiness comes a sweet opportunity for solitude and reverie. You've captured this all very well here. Have a great week!

The empty swing is a bit of a sad photo, Lisa. But I do love it -- hope you are having a wonderful week.

I like the sepia tone you aded on the photos. And you are right there is loneliness in them. But also a hope for next spring.

I love these Lisa, the monochrome ones have that sort of wistful feel of this time of year. Thank you for trying out one of my textures, I hope they're of use to you :)have a great week and thanks for hosting!

It's almost like living in a book when walking around in nature and experience what the eyes see. Something I too like a lot :) Love your entry Lisa!

Looking at your photos, I knew already what the story would be. The mood resonates with me too. I'm so aware of the darkness and stillness coming on-but I don't have to like it.
I really like those black and white images-the top one provides a telling mood.
Hope you have a day off today. I do-but I'm waxing the car. Preparations. Happy day to you. Glad you're up and running and do please note that it's 7:15 Monday morning. Alert the presses!!

I'm a spring/summer person, so and I'm glad winter is gone and I can enjoy more colourful days. These are lovely words to start the week Lisa! ;-)

lovely words and lovely pictures! I took a photo of a bench this past weekend too :)

I love these images, Lisa . . . especially the black-and-white photo of the empty park bench with pine needles on the ground. You caught the emotion of your message in this one picture.

As beautiful as the fall season is, I get a little sad too, knowing the growing season is about to end.

And the cycle continues . . .
Have a great week.

Anna said...

Good Morning Lisa,
Your photos and words capture that wistful, end of the season feeling that is upon us now. Autumn is my favorite season, with it's gorgeous display of color. Windy days have taken many of the leaves down and it saddens me to see the bare branches. Every season has it's own beauty, but I hate to think of the coming cold and short, dark days.
Wishing you a wonderful week!
Anna

Lisa, There is always a sadness with the passing of each season, but many good memories remain. It is just another indicator of how quickly the years roll by. But, there is more beauty, many adventures, and a new start right around the corner -so, welcome Fall!! I love your photos and your comments are always wise and "right on". Love being part of The Creative Exchange. Have a wonderful week. Mickie :)

For me the dance between quiet and lonely keeps shifting this fall. Most days the quiet beauty feeds me, but I do miss the summer activity that is so energizing ♥I love that you did the two B&W then the colored flower, such a beautiful story.

Lisa, I understand how you feel. I am always sad at the beginning of autumn but then this sadness goes away.

You expressed so wonderfully your emotions in these pictures through B&W colors. I am in love with these pictures. Lonely bench and lonely swing..... Lisa, there is beauty in that. The beauty of peace and tranquility and you captured it so perfectly.

And a flower is fantastic. It's dying and still is going to bloom. How beautiful it is.

Wonderful and artistic pictures!!!!! There is so much poetry in all these pictures!

I wish you a beautiful and happy week, dear Lisa.

Lisa, these are just gorgeous! I especially love the first one. I think the fact that you did them in black and white really adds to the concept of the emptiness, and solitude. And I love your illustration of the fact that there is a time for everything, everything has its moment in the sun, lovely thought...
