Fantastic shot Lisa! I love the way you placed the center of the flower down in the corner there and fading away at the top left! The shot is "spot on"...well, I think so :) Magnificent colors too!!

This is a beautiful piece . . . nice note to salute the start of your school year, and the coming season. Looking forward to the fall weather transition. Good luck with "getting back into it" and not so much "me time."

hi Lisa, glad to see you talking again. :)

I love what you did to that little blue flower. Looks great.

Yes, fall is approaching here too. You can feel it in the air and in the colors as you mention. It´s kind of dull. So in my entry today I go back to a dark forest in Costa Rica. :)

This is such a cool macro, Lisa. The focus on the tiny center is lovely. Hope you have a great year at school! I'm not quite ready for fall -- but like you, I'll make the most of it when it officially arrives. :)

Good Morning Lisa, It's so nice to start out my week with your stunning image! Love how you've pushed the extremes of framing this piece in a very original manner and the color is so incredibly luscious!
I hope you have a really great group of kids this year.
We already have a few touches of fall color. How did that sneak up on us! This summer seemed to go faster than usual for our family.
Hope your week is wonderful!

I truly was just thinking about you heading back to school...before I opened this post with words! Is it selfish to say I miss your voices when it doesn't accompany your images? I hope not.
I love the periwinkle blues in this shot...wow. I also like that before I scroll down to the center blossom that the leaves create a cool abstract effect.
Good luck with the start of school. I remember those "best behavior" days, and hearing all the teachers remark "oh I think I've got a great bunch this year" before they crumbled to bitch and moan 2 weeks later in the faculty room.
Also big virtual hugs to you as your boy heads off to college. My best's only son is off this year too. She's having a time with the letting go. That's what friends are for, right? I'll have to call her more oft for coffee-too bad you don't live closer.
Shhhh on that autumn stuff. I'm trying to ignore it.

gina said...

Hope your transition to fall is easy, Lisa. Yourphoto is beautiful -- the color and POV are very special!

We always say it, but "where has summer gone?" You are leaving August Break with a stunning image, as usual. I will continue to be happy that I'm beginning my 10th year of retirement from teaching (Wow! Where have those years gone??); hopefully I can accomplish something wonderful this year, but right now I'm possibly looking at hip surgery before long. That will definitely cut into my photography, I imagine. Happy New School Year to you, Lisa! I know your students are fortunate to be in your classes.

Lisa, Another stunning macro photo--lovely shades of blue. Summer did "whiz" by as it seems to do every year. I hope you have a wonderful school year--it sounds like you are looking forward to "getting started". I'm not teaching this year so there is a touch of sadness, but then I think of all the freetime I will have to do "whatever", and the sadness dissipates quickly. I still get my fill of "kids" with grandchildren, teaching Sunday School, etc. I KNOW that you are a creative and energetic teacher that makes school interesting and fun for your students--how lucky they are. Mickie :)

So nice to see your words back! Good luck with the back to school, always an exciting time but also a bit sad to see the summer go. It just got here in Oregon! We're hoping it lasts for a little while longer. Thanks for providing the Creative Exchange, I love knowing that this link up is here, supporting the connection of my photography with my heart.

This macro is stunning Lisa! I took some photos of this flower during my visit to the flower conservatory in Seattle. It's a type of hydrangea is it not? Whatever it is, it's that color that is my absolute favorite and I hope to have a garden full of this color someday! Sadly, no signs of fall here yet, it's supposed to be 110 on Wednesday.
Hope you have a great start to your school year!

Kaya said...

Lisa, Wednesday will be very exciting day for you. !67 students? That is a lot. I wish you very nice Wednesday. Yes, it will be bright and shiny faces. I envy you a little bit. Several years ago I began my teaching at the beginning of September in a high school and it was a little bit stressful and exciting for me. I was always waiting for this day.

This macro is amazing and beautiful art. Colors and composition are breathtaking. It is a dream, a beautiful dream.... My deep admiration and many compliments for this outstanding art work, Lisa.

I wish you all the best. I wish you that your teaching year will be full of new and interesting discoveries, inspiration and very creative.

Back to the routine... Your kids are so lucky. What grade or subject do you teach? I love the blues and violets of the flower - Mother Nature is amazing. I agree, my summer was great, didn't get to do "it all" but I am getting a bit more "me" time back. And I find THAT a bit bitter sweet... :)
