Lisa, what a wonderful story and as a cat person, I thank you! You are doing your best to love and care for this cat in the only way it knows how to accept it. That is truly a generous heart.
that's so good of you.... hope your friendship keeps getting stronger with kitty and that she comes to trust you. i'm sure she is very thankful for what you have done already.
she looks just like my cat from childhood~ starburst.
Hiya, I'm not a cat person either, but we are inundated with the ones from our village. We are on their way to the fields. They deal with the mice, so I'm happy about that, but wish they 'd go home to do their business rather than all over our garden. Great photo, Lisa, so clear but not too sharp. A delicate balance. Do you use ViewNX2 at all? You'll notice I've gone pale-paler-palest :-) (for a while anyway).
Such a lovely story Lisa, I could "almost" see myself becoming a cat person with your words. Almost. And I think you captured her personality perfectly in your first shot - somewhat pensive and a little wary of others. Am sure this kitty has seen a lot in her short life!
Well I am a cat person Through and Through.. That was such a sweet thing you did for that kitty.. And your cat photos look wonderful.. I just love that first shot..
Some people say animals don't have expressions but they most definitely do. This little sweetheart has the same look as some humans, usually those who live on the streets, i.e. a bit weary and 'war worn'.
You know I adore cats and I love this photo and love the care you're extending to this little mite. The makeshift tent makes me smile because it's the kind of thing I'd do too. (I once made a shelter for chickens that had been turfed out of the owner's property nearby...and they proceeded to roost overnight in our trees)!
Thank you for doing this for kitty and for the considered decision of shelter/no shelter. Heartbreaking...but I think you're right.
Here is one of those interesting facts: 'She' is in all probability actually a 'he'. Ginger cats are almost invariably male, just as tortoiseshell cats are almost invariably female. 'Not many people know that.' :)
What a sweet story! I'm not a "cat person" either, but it would be difficult for me to ignore such a situation also. You are such a loving person and the fact that you are caring for an animal in this way proves it! Thank you for such an uplifting start to my day.
We used to be cat dogs, my Pop and I. But when the last of the 21 cats died (of old age for sure) my Popsy refused to have any of them (Alpha dog are alwasy defensive) so all stray cats can not enter Heaven and just lounge in our roof!
Watch it cause Keeper is posting one about it too.
I was so NOT a cat person, until I adopted a cat from the shelter about a year back. My cat has been a wonderful affectionate companion for me. Kitty looks like a sweetie and you're a sweetie for "setting her up" in style with cushy digs (and the use of your boat). Didn't get a chance to link up last week...hope to this week. Thanks for this lovely post.
Oh Lisa, you practically adopted Kitty! I inherited this love for animals from my late Mom who always bring a stray home or feed strays along the way! You would not believe this, but in a museum where I worked, I have adopted cats too and they are such characters because they attend exhibit openings and people greet them!
I read your new post and we share in your prayers . . .
Thank you for "adopting" kitty. We have rescued over 20 feral kittens. My husband brings them home from the shipyard. We usually hand nurse them and then after 6 weeks give them to our shelter which is "No Kill". We kept our last four and they have actually turned out to be more like dogs. We are in the process of "fostering" another one for a family that found it in their shed. He is less than a week old but doing well. Kitty looks wonderful and you have probably given him the best year of his life even though he's still shy. Wonderful picture.
I have a similar 'kitty' story, but my sons were the ones who adopted Bright Eyes after dogs chased her under a fence and she lost an ear. I'm very allergic to cats, but I soon became the one who made sure she had food and water....and then I even fixed a box for her inside the back door during really cold weather. I'm still not a cat person, but I find them fascinating. Your Kitty is fortunate to have found your porch!
Oh Lisa, that is truly a heart warming story! I think that kitty is well taken care of considering what you did for her. Sounds like she is used to the outdoors, and you've just made it more comfortable and safe. I myself am truly a "crazy" cat lady. I have NEVER had cats until the 2 kittens I got 7 years ago, and they are like my kids. :-) My 2 are "indoor" cats, and almost act like a lap dog. They are both so spoiled I don't know how they would act outdoors. :-) Great shots, and I hope to have time in the next few days to participate in the Creative Exchange. :-)

What a heart-warming story. And it is funny how my photo is of a our cat when she was a kitten. (I am a huge cat person) A benefit of having an outdoor cat is they will keep rodents from your garage and house.
It's definitely a blessing for Kitty that she found you... I'm glad you took her under your wing! =)
PS I had forgotten to add the date my pics were taken... it was last October! It doesn't look anything like that here right now, although I AM starting to see more & more buds everyday! YaY! Plus, it's suppose to be in the mid 60's today & 70's tomorrow & Friday! Double YaY! =)
I think you must be an animal person....I love any thing fuzzy and warm blooded. I am a kitty, dog and squirrel person....check out the label Mama Squirrel on my Pics & Pieces blog...we have 4 cats....well, four cats have us, their humble servants.
What a lovely photo of Kitty. Love the color! And you are a wonderful person for trying to take care of him/her. I hope she finds a home in your lap and learns to get along with the feathered friends. We can hope, can't we?

You are life saver for her.
Lisa, I have a tear in my eye reading this! Kitty has landed on her feet:) Sounds like you are becoming good friends, too.

this is a gift, to earn the trust of a wild cat. She must have been very hurt to behave like that.

such a lovely story and I absolutely love Kitty, I am a great cat lover, our cat ling ling was a stray too.

Kitty is so beautiful and proud, and like your story very much.
What a wonderful story, Lisa! And I love this portrait of Kitty - it's the perfect picture to your story!
Thank you so much everyone. Such beautiful photos, and it's only the first day!
@Jo - No, I do not use View NX2. It sounds familiar to me though.

Such a happy ending story and lovely photo of Kitty. I'm sure he appreciates everything you have done for him!
You are a good person, Lisa. Your Kitty looks like one I knew years ago. His name was Marmalade.
She is adorable. I love her little mouth! We also rescued a kitty who had been left behind when his owners moved. Glad she has softened you :)

What a lovely story and I just love that you saved her and gave her a more comfortable life. Thanks for that!
