The word that sprang to my mind when I saw this was 'intimate'. It's lovely Lisa.
How fascinating about your Italian friend - I wonder if you *are* actually related. These coincidences do seem to happen sometimes. I've had my own chance encounter this week (coincidentally also to do with family and via the internet). The internet has made the world a very much smaller place and I'm not sure how I'd do without it now because I so enjoy the interactions with my internet friends.
Isn't it great how we all can bind and connect with people across the world. I loved your story and I can see a friendship starting! :) This is so soft and lovely!
What a wonderful story, Lisa! It is so exciting to make these connections with people around the world....and gives me hope for the future. Another lovely flower for your series.
What an amazing story. Thanks so much for sharing it.. over on my crafting blog I have done swaps with people in Germany and England and it is so fun to get mail and a little piece of Art from Ladies who do the same craft as me.. Your post today really says it all for me.. We met on a blog and our craft bind us.. Thanks.. Hope you have a wonderful day..
I have found how my english is getting better. When I started it was very difficult to write in english and still I can't say everything what I want sometimes but It's getting better but NOT perfect. The main thing is you people understand something even if I have hundred misspellings:)
What a cool story. Once you get connected on Flickr it's amazing the relationships that can form. Like minds, similar artistic tastes, etc., somehow find one another.
FYI: My great-grandfather immigrated from Sicily in the early 1900s to Louisiana. He did change the last name, but we're not sure what it was to begin with. We think Accardo, now Acaldo. Apparently, there were some mafia ties, thus the name change. Hmmmm...wish I knew more.
Also, my grandmother spoke French to keep what she was saying private. I knew all the cuss words, though!
What a wonderful story, Lisa! And another stunning photo! Plus your own texture - this is absolutely fantastic, Lisa! I'm so glad we've met and tied a bond, too! Have a wonderful week!
Beautiful story! Such a small world, huh? It's also great how our creative interests helps us to meet some amazing people! Awesome shot btw-love that hint of yellow. XX
Yes, we are all tied to one another before people started building walls, separating cultures and races. But 21st century is about breaking the walls, getting connected again, building ties that make us whole!
I made a lot of special ties through the net. And you're one of them! Have a great week ahead, Lisa!
I love getting comments in other languages and I use the Google translator to make my replies. I also added the Google translator gadget to my sidebar so that visitors can read my posts in translation.
I think you and your Italian Flickr friend are experiencing serendipity at its finest.
Woof Lisa! I have ties around the net too. Humans, people and some thingy. I don't speak human language at all but I sure can understand most of it. I don't really care for languages except when it smells yummy and it has something to do with hugs.
Your story is very interesting. "the ties that bind" About two weeks ago, I received a comment by Japanese from London. then I called on his blog, his blog was written by 4 languages. I was very suprised and I knew that my blog was read in foriegn country. So I started write my blog both English and Japanese. I also stareted to comment on many blogs written by English. So I feel "the ties that bind" in another kind of meaning. Your photo is very beautiful. It is kind of healing.
Either I'm losing my mind, or... I'm losing my mind! I could have sworn I commented on this post yesterday... I've been doing that lately & it's getting kinda scary... I'm only 40!!! =0
That's really a wonderful story... amazing how the world works!
I often get comments on my site in other languages - google translate is a godsend, at least it lets you get the jist. I tend to answer in English, only because I don't want to assume they can't read it - this way, if they can read it they can get a more accurate version, and if not, they can resort to the online translators.
(And I feel like an idiot for asking this, but - how does this creative exchange thing work?)
Such wonderful photographs so far this week. You are all so awesome!! @JourneyPhotographic - I received an e-mail that you had posted a comment, but I do not see it here :-( Not sure what that means. I do not mean to answer your question with a question, but do you simply want to know what The Creative Exchange is, or do you need help using the link-up? Just let me know, and I'll try to help.
This is sooooo lovely, just like all your flower captures. I really, Really, REALLY want to get a macro lens soon. I covet everyone's macro shots! :-) The week is slipping through my fingers and the creative exchange entry I had planned for this week just simply isn't working the way I want. So, I'll shoot for next week. :-)

What a cool "tie". I love the connections and ties I've made through blogging and on Flickr-present company included. Love that macro lily too.

Lovely image AND lovely narrative!

A wonderful story, it has really inspired me to create something myself on the theme of "the ties that bind"!
Yet another stunning picture Lisa!
Oh Lisa, the focus and tones in the image are fantastic!
Love your story about your new Italian friend...or long lost relative! Wouldn't that be cool!
I've made many friends through mutual love of photography. You, dear Lisa, are one of those!
I would love to watch you create one of these fabulous macros, Lisa.

I'm not good at English either, but I try. To read goes better than write and Google translate very badly. Your white lily is fantastic.

Awesome experience you write about! You are always so interesting! And your barn shot above is gorgeous. A red barn on white snow - classic.
Glad to be back at the Creative Exchange!

Hiya Lisa,
Your pic and mine: the beauty and the beast :-)
A touch on the gaudy side today.
I mirror your respect for the meme network being of influence on all our lives one way or another.

Blogspot seems to be doing something weird with my comments, and it won't recognise my openID :(
And it's OK, I think I figured it out!
